One of the, um, problems with being a missionary was learning to make do with whatever I had. I don’t have a sense for something being better or worse than something else. I just make do.
Excuses Are Like Rear Ends
My dad used to say about excuses, “They are like rear ends (he was more specific with his anatomy). Everyone has one and they all stink.
Excuses often revolve around not having enough.
I don’t have enough money.
I don’t know the right people = have enough contacts.
I don’t have enough time.
I don’t have enough resources.
Jesus Was Master of Making Do
Jesus could do incredible things with the bare minimum resources to work with.
Indeed, Jesus could create something from nothing if need be.
“But, then I am not Jesus,” I hear someone say.
Another excuse – I don’t have enough power.
Give Jesus anything, whatever you have and he’ll make it work.
If we give Jesus a little, he can do an awful lot with it.
If we give … but first we must give.
Listen to Bill Belew every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 6 pm (PT) as he shares his thoughts on Jesus and Making Do.
Share your thoughts. And if you can’t wait for Bill, there’s a sermon starting every hour.
