It is crazy how much different I feel when I am not in prayer/communication with God or reading His word. It is almost like I am a completely different person. I become less patient, less loving, less generous, angrier, more selfish, greedier, etc.
Why is that? Why am I more susceptible to handle situations badly or make an incorrect, harmful decision? It is because if you are not growing in your relationship with God you are decreasing. Just like with working out, if you are not using your muscles they are deteriorating.
It also means I am more prone to listen to my flesh, which is my sinful nature. Thankfully, once we become Christian’s we all receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is like our sixth sense, but the strongest and most accurate one.
Why the Holy Spirit is Absolutely Amazing
- Helps discern what is right or wrong
- Helps know how to love like Jesus
- Gives patience
- Gives wisdom
- Gives joy
- Gives strength
- Gives peace
- Gives kindness
- Gives gentleness
- Helps to be selfless
- Helps give perspective
- Helps in any given situation
God gave us the ability to have the Holy Spirit dwell within us to help us with situations. It is also known as the comforter. Since we cannot be in heaven with God yet, he gave us the Holy Spirit to help us with discernment.
When we are in communication/prayer with God or reading his word we are feeding the fruit of the spirit so to speak, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Therefore, I have learned the importance of each and every day intentionally growing my relationship with God. Then we can pour out into the lives of others.
