Restoration Movement preachers do not have an adequate support network.
Perhaps it’s not a unique phenomenon to RM Churches. I wonder out loud if preachers in general have this challenge.
Restoration Movement Preachers Need More Friends
If I were to ask you – “How many close friends do you have?” or “How many good friends do you have?” how would you reply?
I took a poll of 2500+ Restoration Movement Preachers and 6700+ Restoration Movement members. I prefaced my question with:
“The best data suggest the ideal relational network is 4-5 close and supportive friendships and at least 12 (but not more than 15) relationships with people we consider good friends.?
How Many Friends Do You Have?
Q:
How many close friends do you have? How many good friends do you have?
A:
- Less than 10% of Restoration Movement Preachers can claim an adequate friendship support network.
- Stated differently – More than 90% of Restoration Movement Preachers do NOT have an adequate support network.
- Nearly 10% have no good nor close friends.

A Problem in Need of a Solution
The church needs to rethink how that guy/gal up front is spending their down time and who with.
Perhaps the guy/gal up front needs to rethink their transparency policy as well.
I don’t know the answer. Do you?
