Theme : How to become like Jesus?

Topic idea : What will you do to make the world a better place?

Essay: Persuasive

It seems that people nowadays are seeking the best way to meet their needs. It is resulting in much competition. The rich becoming richer while the poor are becoming poorer. Although, the world has produced more than enough food for all humans, hunger is still all around us. People have harnessed  nature to their needs, cutting down the trees, and carving up the mountains with roads, factories, and buildings. They are pouring toxic chemicals into the environment, creating air pollution. The spillage of oil in the sea during ship transportation has not only polluted the water but also has blocked the sunlight which is essential for underwater living creatures.

It is very difficult for us to control the circumstances that will never be changed. However, we can make the world a better place by doing very simple things in our daily basis. First of all, respect yourself and others; be honest about who you are. When you know what makes you feel good, continue to be clear with yourself and others. For example,  you may feel better about working in social work rather than working in computer coding which pays more money. Be honest and stick with what makes you happy, even if we respect others but do not let them define who you are.

Secondly, volunteering your time to the local community. Whether in schools or churches, children are the future of this world; help them develop their skills. Spend some time at the church, help feed the homeless, cut their hair, and donate some of your clothes. In addition, you might help a nonprofit organization build shelters for the homeless. These are the sign of harmony and humanity.

Thirdly, as I mentioned above about air pollution. I would encourage you to drive less in order to reduce the toxic air which is released by cars. You can carpool or take public transportation to work: bike or walk to pick up small things from the grocery store. Furthermore, preserve the trees by using less paper. Learn how to use technology, especially the smartphone, so you can actually do almost everything on your phone. For example, online banking, email, jot down some notes or make a shopping list on your phone, etc.

Lastly, conserve water and donate to clean water charities. Do not waste water by letting it run  while you are doing something else. You might donate to clean water organizations. As you know, in many parts of the world people are suffering not only from malnutrition but from the lack of clean water.

To conclude,in order to make the world a better place, you need to be a generous person. Help preserve the environment as well as volunteering to help others.
