Topic: A person should never make an important decision alone.

Types of essay: Cause and effect

Generally, our life places us in some situations that require us to make an important decision. Life is full of decisions. That is the amazing thing about God, He gives us options, not orders, and has faith in us that we will make the right choices when the time comes. There are times when we have to decide on our own and there are instances when we need to seek the help and advice of others. Personally, I believe that we should never make a decision on our own if we are in a critical situation. The following paragraphs will illuminate my reasons.

First, we ourselves tend to make a wrong decision when we are in a dilemma. Since we are emotionally burdened by our situation, there is a strong possibility that our personal decision may not be logical. For instance, some couples end up in regret when they realize that their decision is just based on their feelings and not on facts. Their realization is if they did not just depend on their own thoughts and if they listened to other people’s advice, that would give them a clear and balanced understanding of their situation, then they would not make a wrong decision.

Second, people who are more experienced in certain areas can guide us when it comes to make a crucial decision. Since experience is the best teacher, the experienced the other person is, the better decision based on his advice we could make. For example, when I was preparing for my TOEFL test, I made my own decision of always postponing the date of my exam because of my fear of not getting my target score; however, my seniors helped me to change my decision after they persuaded me to first try taking the test and see it myself. Eventually, I trusted my seniors’ advice and in just one take I achieved my desired score. “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).This example only proves the importance of taking the advice of experienced people in making an important decision.

Lastly, we are in a free world where everybody’s voice must be heard and considered whether we like it or not. There are essential matters in our lives that definitely require a decision of two people or all members of a family or all members of a group. For instance, a married couple need to consult each other when making a decision about their finances; siblings need to reach a common decision on the best way of taking care of their sick parent; or students in a group should decide together on which piece of material they would use in their presentation. In these sample situations, the decision of everyone is very critical towards a peaceful and harmonious relationship of couples, families, and students.

In conclusion, it is without a doubt that I completely agree with the statement, “a person should never make an important decision alone.” When confronted with difficult situations or things that matter the most, it is always important that we not decide on our own. Life is too short not to share our decision with others who could help us make better choices when life itself sometimes becomes tough.

She clearly wrote her reasons. I like her essay. However, I found some sentences which was a wrong grammar but it did not matter. It was a petty mistake. Keep going!!!
